When we decided to look into buying a house in Bozeman we also started researching real estate agents. Dan stuck out to us as the type of person we would want to work with. Once we contacted him we saw from the very first interaction that he was a great guy. He was honest, kind, knowledgeable, and patient. Dan works hard all hours to ensure his client is well taken care of. Buying a house can be stressful, and Dan recognizes this. He ensures you feel 100% confident in your decision and he is always available with a cheerful spirit to walk you along the way. After finding a house we loved and wanted to purchase but then suddenly decided we weren't ready to relocate Dan made us feel like his time was well spent helping us come to this conclusion. We referred to Dan as our life coach- because he was always available to counsel us in our times of need. Although we decided not to purchase a home at this time I feel like Dan deserves the credit for guiding us along the way. We will definitely reach out to Dan once we are ready to relocate to Bozeman and we know he'll be there for us.

Dan sold my home above asking price within two weeks. I live out of town and he went above and beyond reasonable expectations to make sure my home was ready for viewings. He handled all the things a homeowner would generally take of so I wouldn't have the financial and time burden of traveling back to Bozeman. Dan was always quick to respond to any questions and concerns I had and was professional and pleasant to work with. He made the sale of my home seamless and a great experience. I highly recommend him.

Dan has been great to work with. He quickly saw my vision and with his knowledge of the local market found me my next home quickly. He has helped extensively with the process of buying and selling with everything from his knowledge of the process to small tasks like meeting the plumber or setting up my inspection. His responsiveness makes quick look slow. Dan helped extensively with getting me the best price and working with the other agents to make the process as smooth as possible.

For several years I searched for property in Bozeman and surrounding areas. Dan has been tireless in his efforts to help me. He really knows Bozeman, its residents and what's going on in the property market. He is unfailingly kind, professional and responsive. I have also observed him with other buyers and sellers and he has a great sense of how to respond to a client's needs.

I have worked with a handful of realtors in the past. Often I have found them to be impatient and a little too keen to praise whatever house we were looking at. Moreover, they've tended to be more responsive when it mattered to them, less responsive when something potentially unpleasant mattered to me. It wasn't really a pleasant experience, but then I was looking to make investments, so it was business.

Buying a home is a more delicate thing. When I needed to find a new realtor in a new town, I dreaded the calls I needed to make. I poked around online at length, looking for profiles of realtors that did not sound pompous. Dan Stone's was one of them: no big words, no grandiose promises. A varied background. A guy who likes to float the river with his daughter on the weekend.

It is rare that what you see is what you get. Dan is patient. He knows how to listen. He takes his time. He does not mind a setback. Let me explain: the first suggestion Dan made fit my initial parameters. I was looking for a duplex and Dan found one of the few on the market. I made a bid - site unseen. It was accepted. I flew into town. The duplex was nice. But I wasn't too keen on the neighborhood. Not that it was bad, I just wanted a little more character and a more central location. More importantly, the seller was being difficult first, then deceitful. My wife and I were no longer convinced. There were a couple of listings I had found. Dan knew about them, but was lukewarm in his quiet way. Once we visited, I agreed with him. Suddenly I only had a couple of days left.

The next morning I meet Dan, who gives me the latest seller nonsense, then tells me to hop in his truck. Now. "I want to show you something." I haven't finished my coffee yet. Doesn't matter. Time is of the essence. Dan, usually calm, is quite excited. A charming house in an excellent location had just come on the market. It won't last long, Dan warns.

We made a bid that day. We got it, besting a couple of bids that came in the next day. We bought it. We love it. In the few hours we'd spent together, Dan had figured out what we were looking for, because he listened. He knows the market well, because he's a nerd, who loves driving around pointing out little details of the houses he passes.

I should add here that Dan spent many years working as a contractor. He'll tell you how much work an older house will need. He'll tell you if he doesn't like a floor plan, or if he thinks the workmanship on some new construction is a little shoddy.

In the end, Dan found us a second place - again, he understood what we were looking for. But that is another story, lest you think this is a paid ad.

It's been a while since we closed. I've had to do all sorts of work on the house. New to town, I've had all sorts of questions. Dan was always happy to help. When in the neighborhood, he'd stop by to see how I was doing. We've had a beer now and then. I expect we’ll be having more. And that does not happen every day.

Dan was competent and professional with all the tasks expected of an agent and quick to go beyond expectations when a situation arose that required or benefited from extra effort. He got out a paint brush and touched up a door himself that the bank's appraiser decided needed a coat of paint before he would authorize our appraisal. Dan and I agreed on all aspects of negotiation and I sold at full asking with literally zero days on market.

As a first time home buyer, I was very impressed with Dan and how easy and low-pressure he made the experience. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone that is looking for a home in the Bozeman area.
